Short Course for Student Education

We can offer student courses worldwide, in Marine Parasitology. The duration can vary between 3 days until 2 weeks.

The following illustrations were drawn by Sarah Gammerschlag during the A-Module "Diseases and Parasites of Marine Fishes" at the University Duesseldorf, Germany ===>

Example of a 5 days lecture (L) with practical (P) in Marine Fish Parasitology:

Day 1: Diseases and parasites of marine fishes (L); Standard methodology to dissect marine fish (P).

Day 2-3: Definitions in marine parasitology (L); Fish parasitic Protozoa (L); Marine parasites in fishes with different feeding ecology (P)

Day 4: Fish parasitic helminths (L); Isolation of zoonotic fish parasites (P)

Day 5: Fish parasitic crustaceans (L);  Documentation of isolated fish parasites (P); Staining and permanent mounting procedures for the collected fish parasites

OTHERS: During the class, the students learn how to identify marine fish parasites. The utilization of fish parasites as biological indicator organisms in marine ecology and fisheries biology will be discussed.
